How It Started
I'd been collecting tattoos for a few years, often picking them up while traveling. Mexico City especially. I kept going back, and I'd almost always come home with a new one. Cheaper than the US, and usually better. At some point I thought, why don't we have this in Austin? And then: why shouldn't I be the one doing it? I looked up tattoo kits online. About $120. Seemed like a fine thing to try.
The Practice
Started on fake skin, watched a lot of YouTube tutorials. Little by little I got better. I practiced on myself, then friends started asking. I did it. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. The tricky part was always the stencil process. It took a while to set up each time, which made it hard to stay consistent. Haven't picked it up in a bit, but I'd like to get back to it.
